Urban Bush-Carpenters

Michael with planter boxes
The Urban Bush-Carpenters are bringing back old ways to help make a new world. We are bringing back a DIY ethic focused on sustainable living through growing your own food, making compost, keeping chooks and using worms to eat your food scraps. Like the bush-carpenters of old we use found wood to make useful things, the only difference is that we do it in the city. We find discarded timber around town, outside building sites, down alleys and in skips to make planter boxes, chookhouses, worm farms and compost bays for a range of community groups.

 Bush-carpentry workshops in Melbourne 2012

After a long break over the Christmas period and new year the Ubc's have dusted off their hammers and saws ready to host a series of  new workshops. Workshops will initially run the first half of the year and will also include some new topics.
Workshops will be held at Ceres Enviroment Park .
Places at the workshops are limited so please email us using the 'contact us' link and we will confirm your position.
Each workshop will vary but all will encourage the sharing and learning of skills common to bush carpentry. This includes resourcefulness and making the most of the materials at hand, getting to grips with hand tools and using recycled timber.
Please click here for map and what to bring.
